Still in
his early 20s, Victoria's Ryan Cochrane is the Canadian record holder in the
400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle and one of Canada's leading international forces
in the distance events.
And, he's shown no signs of letting up since winning the Olympic bronze medal
at Beijing’s Water Cube.
He was crowned Omega Swimmer of the Year in 2009 after a multiple-medal
performance at the World Championships and won gold in all three of his
distances in the 2010 Australian Championships.
With his athletic prime still years away, the University student has now
focused on expanding his medal hopes leading into the 2012 Olympic Games in
London.
Out of the pool, Ryan has become an ambassador for ActNowBC – a provincial
initiative aimed at promoting Olympic values and the importance of being active
for elementary school students.
